Peking Duk unleash their brand new single
PRESS RELEASE:
Since breaking through with their hit single ‘High’ at the beginning of 2014, Peking Duk have flown high at the top of the charts, toured Australia from end to end and taken their special flavour of music to the world. Now the party-starting duo of Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles are set to unleash their anthemic new single ‘Say My Name’, featuring the vocals of fellow Canberran, Benjamin Joseph.
The past 18 months have been nothing short of a whirlwind for Peking Duk. Having won Best Dance Release at the 2014 ARIA Awards for their breakthrough single ‘High’ featuring Nicole Millar, Peking Duk had the honour of achieving not one, but two tracks in the top five of Triple J’s Hottest 100 in January of this year – the double platinum selling ‘Take Me Over’ featuring SAFIA, and the triple platinum selling ‘High’.
In June of this year, Peking Duk were the inaugural winners of the prestigious industry-voted Artist of the Year prize at the 2015 inthemix Awards, as well as ACT State Winners in the inthemix50 People’s Choice category.
Having sold out their ‘Peace, Love & Sweatiness’ 2014 Australian tour and smashed the main stage of Stereosonic, Peking Duk spread their wings to the US this year, making their debut performance at the hallowed grounds of the Coachella festival in California.
The Duk boys will soon return to the Splendour In The Grass stage with a brand new stage show and some very special surprise guests, before heading back to the US to appear at Lollapalooza in Chicago and Hard Summer in LA.
‘Say My Name’ will be released in Australia on July 10th and features the powerful vocals of Peking Duk compadre Benjamin Joseph.
“The song came together in a matter of minutes,” explains Adam. “We didn’t really overthink it or let anything get in the way. We had the main outline of the beat there in around 15 minutes, then we worked on the vocal melody and tightened the whole thing up back home in Canberra. We thought it would be fun to have a simple drum beat and chant driven song so we’ve had a bit of fun with it.”
So what’s in store for the rest of 2015? “Playing more shows, making more tunes and spreading the Duk love around the world,” says Reuben.
Be sure to catch Peking Duk live across Australia and the US this year and get ‘Say My Name’ from July 10th.
