Judges announced for 11th AMP
PRESS RELEASE:
The AMP (Australian Music Prize) has a proud and now decade long history of recognising and promoting excellence in Australian music, and with $30,000 prize money courtesy of PPCA up for grabs, the newly ensconced judging panel are hard at work listening now to albums released in 2015 – all of which are eligible to take home the prestigious title as the 11th AMP Winner.
REMI was the winner of the 10th Coopers AMP for his album ‘Raw X Infinity’, which saw the 23-year-old Melbourne artist and his musical collaborator Sensible J recognised by the judging panel as one of the fastest-rising hip-hop acts in Australia.
The 2015 judging panel features a mix of judges new and old, all industry experts in their field as artists, journalists or retailers. The 16-member judging panel is:
Artists:
Dave Faulkner (Chairperson), Al Grigg, Phil Jamieson
Media:
Mikey Cahill, Bryget Chrisfield, Sosefina Fuamoli, Kate Hennessey, Caitlin Nienaber, Sarah Smith, Myf Warhurst, Bernard Zuel
Retail:
Chris Berkley, Mike Glynn, Shannon Logan, Nate Nott, Christopher Powell
First time AMP judge Phil Jamieson said, “Really honoured to be asked to be amongst the judging panel for this year’s AMP. Looking forward to listening, arguing and cuddles.”
Every album released for the first time between January 1 and December 31 in 2015, is automatically considered for the 11th AMP – and we encourage being notified on Facebook or via email of all new releases! The only criteria we have is that there are no re-releases, re-packages, live, ‘Best Of’ or compilations, and that albums have a minimum of 9 tracks, or are at least 33 minutes and 20 seconds long.
The winner of the 11th AMP will be announced in March 2016.
