Tones & I’s ‘Dance Monkey’ was the fourth most-played song on UK radio in 2020

Tones & I’s breakout single ‘Dance Monkey’ has been named as the fourth most played song on UK radio in 2020 by British music copyright collective Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL).

The Australian artist’s inescapable 2019 single solidified its status as an international hit with its top-five PPL chart placement, ranking beneath The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights’, Dua Lipa’s ‘Don’t Start Now’ and Kygo & Whitney Houston’s ‘Higher Love’.

PPL’s chart data was compiled from exclusive music usage and airplay data gathered from both radio and television, as well as public performance plays.

The charts also named Dua Lipa as the UK’s most-played artist of 2020, with Ed Sheeran and Ariana Grande trailing closely behind.

The latest accolade follows on from ‘Dance Monkey’ being named as the second most-streamed song globally on Spotify in 2020, with the track also claiming the title of the most Shazamed tune of all time last November.

Tones & I recently announced that her debut album, Welcome To The Madhouse, will arrive via Sony Music Australia on Friday July 16.
