Allegra Neve wins the 2021 Josh Pyke Partnership
Sydney singer-songwriter Allegra Neve has been revealed as the winner of the Josh Pyke Partnership for 2021.
Facilitated by Josh Pyke and APRA AMCOS, the annual partnership provides an unsigned act with funding and mentorship to foster creative growth in order to reach the next stage of their career.
As this year’s winner, Neve will receive a $7,500 grant to go towards her professional musical endeavours, and will receive mentorship from Pyke as well as meeting with Wonderlick Entertainment’s Greg Donovan and Stephen Wade of Select Music.
Responding to the news of her win, Neve thanked Pyke and his team and said that winning the Partnership was ‘exactly what I needed’.
“This is amazing. I’m so honoured to be awarded the JPP 2021. I think I’m still in shock,” Neve said.
“Huge thank you to Josh and his team. This is exactly what I needed and really can’t believe it. It means the world to me and appreciate it so much.”
Pyke himself noted that 13-year-old Neve had been applying for the Partnership for the last three years, saying that he’s been ‘blown away by her talent’ with each of her entries.
“Allegra Neve writes incredibly accomplished songs by anyone’s standards. Insightful lyrics, strong musical instincts and melodies for miles,” Pyke said.
“I reckon Allegra’s music is going to make a huge impact both here and abroad, and I’m really proud that myself, APRA/AMCOS, Wonderlick Entertainment and Select Music will play a small part in kicking off her career.”
Previous recipients of the Josh Pyke Partnership include Gordi, Angie McMahon, Alex Lahey and Eilish Gilligan.
