Muzeek to revolutionise how we book gigs

Launched today, Sydney start-up Muzeek aims to revolutionise the way the music industry conducts its live music bookings.

The platform intends to streamline the process with its own booking technology built specifically for the live music industry.

Muzeek received funding from The Sydney Angels and Silicon Valley’s Stephen Roulac and was awarded a national Good Design Award this year and placed 9th in the SMART 100 Innovative Services competition.

Headed by the owner of Las Vegas label Outbox Records Danny Fiorentini, the project has been in beta since 2014.

“I was so frustrated attempting to book shows for our label, that I realised there had to be a better way,” Fiorentini said. “There was no reason for this process to be so archaic in the digital age."

Anyone who’s ever tried to have their band booked at a venue, create a worksheet, send over contracts or enquiries will know that it can be a very tedious process at times with constant back and forth between the two parties, Muzeek provides a unique solution.

"
Everyone seemed to be focused on providing the best digital outlets for recorded music distribution, but the live industry has been left in the virtual dust. And yet, this is where most revenue is now made.”

The functionality of the website allows artists venues, managers and promoters among others to send out private booking requests to the desired party and allows for the sharing of contracts, worksheets and other documentation, which automatically update and reflect changes on both ends of the spectrum.

“As in any industry – it's all about efficiency and optimising core processes,” Fiorentini told TMN. “The recorded-music side of things is as efficient as ever. But technology on the live music side has to catch up.”

According to Fiorentini, the end-goal is to reducetraditionally time-consuming overhead costs for independent venues and spaces, and to help artists and their teams make more money, this passing the savings back to fans who attend their shows.”

“We're tackling the heart of the inefficiency problem within the Australian live performance industry by providing a beautiful, automated process-solution to the outdated side of the music industry; where a digital evolution is needed most."

Now out of beta, Muzeek is ready to become an integral part of the booking experience and already has 5000+ accounts on the platform including VICE, Noisey, VIVID Festival and plenty of key venues (including the recently launched Perth venue Jimmy’s Den).

Usually the process requires users to request an invitation to the service but TMN has been given an exclusive link for our readers to access the site and sign up, entirely skipping the invitation process.
