Byron Bay’s Tora signs to Believe [exclusive]

Byron Bay outfit Tora has signed with Believe as they gear up to release their third album.

The band’s debut album Take A Rest was released in 2017, with the follow-up Can’t Buy The Mood coming in 2019.

Their new single ‘Why Won’t You Wait’ is out today, while the new album, A Force Majeure will be out on September 3.

The band said the timing was right to sign with Believe.

“Signing with Believe felt like the right thing leading up to our third album release, they offered us the support we were looking for and trusted us with complete creative freedom which has been a very empowering process for us as a band,” the band told TMN.

“When we met the team it made total sense that their artists are succeeding both in Australia and internationally, they are a forward-thinking company that is moving with the times and this ethos aligns with our own, hence our name Tora which is derived from the Greek word τώρα meaning ‘now’.”

Believe’s country manager Mick Tarbuk said the company is thrilled to have Tora on board ahead of their forthcoming release.

“As a team we have all been Tora fans for a long time and admire their commitment to independence and creativity. The new album is a huge leap forward for the band and we can’t wait for them to share it with the world,” he added.

In addition, Tora has signed a management deal with Attack & Release, and is partnered with UMPG, Ninety Day Records, Niche Productions, Paradigm Talent Agency and Earth Agency.

Today’s single release, ‘Why Won’t You Wait’ is about the fear of being forgotten in a long-distance relationship. The song was written, produced, mixed and mastered by the band as they were holed up and locked down in Europe.

The clip was filmed in the border forests of France and Belgium in September 2020, and was directed by Bob Sizoo.
