Ivy League releases debut single of late founder Pete Lusty

Ivy League Records has released the debut single of James Roden and label founder Pete Lusty, who died from cancer on this date last year.

The single ‘Shit I Don’t Have Time For’ is released under the posthumously-named band Snakeheads and features lead vocals from Ivy League labelmate Andrew Swayze from A. Swayze and the Ghosts. The Tasmanian band was one of Lusty’s last signings while working at Ivy League.

After first meeting in year seven, Lusty and Roden started their musical partnership when they started jamming every Monday night in 2014, expressing an interest in ‘70s English punk and US hardcore. The group also featured Kit Warhurst on drums and James’ brother Harry on bass.

“We only wanted to play what we loved at 15 years old, with no pressure and no point,” Roden said in a statement.

The band ended up in the studio in 2019, with long-time friend and well-known producer Wayne Connolly. They ended up recording seven songs before Lusty died. Since then, the remaining members and Connolly have been working on the recordings.

More singles from Snakeheads are expected to be released in the future.
