Will Sparks launches label hub for ’bounce’ genre

22-year-old producer/DJ Will Sparks has launched his own record label in conjunction with his agency/management company and Ministry of Sound.

Bourne Recordings, named after his hometown of Melbourne, will act as a hub for the dance music genre ‘bounce’. Sparks himself has become synonymous with the Melbourne-borngenre, taking his releases to the top reaches of the ARIA chart; the Platinum-selling Ah Yeah So What featuring Wiley and Elen Levon peaked at #4 while Bring It Back, his track with Joel Fletcher, hit #22 and is certified Platinum.

Sparks, who was named Australia’s #1 DJ at the 2014 inthemix Awards, hopes to take the ‘bounce’ genre global.

“When I first started producing, I always wondered how on earth I could get my music signed and released or who to contact,” stated Sparks. "I created this project for anyone with talent. If you’re seriously confident and know that your track is great, I’d love to hear from you.”

In conjunction with Lucky Ent (Tigerlily, Joel Fletcher) and Ministry of Sound, Bourne Recordings’ debut release will be Sparks’ own track Flutatious.

Jeff Drake, Head of A&R for Ministry of Sound Australia told TMN: "Will has a real passion for new artists and new music, so helping Will realise his potential and grow as a record executive is something we are really looking forward to. Our place at the forefront of dance music comes with a responsibility to grow and nurture the skills of people such as Will and hopefully help grow Bourne into a hub of creativity and inspiration, not just a logo."
