Mitch King becomes latest artist to sign to Gudinski’s Reclusive Records
Gold Coast artist Mitch King is the second artist to sign to Mushroom Group head Michael Gudinski’s recently-launched label Reclusive Records.
To mark the occasion, King has released the new single ‘Oil & Water’, co-written by Diesel’s Mark Lizotte, ahead of a new EP later this year. This isn’t the first time King has worked with Mushroom, having performed a cover of 5 Seconds of Summer’s track ‘Youngblood’ for The State of Music last year.
“To be selected by Michael Gudinski and have him believe in my music is a great honour. I’m really looking forward to releasing lots of new music this year,” King said in a statement.
Reclusive Records was launched by Gudinski in June, with “no musical boundaries” in mind. Singer-songwriter Scott Darlow was the label’s first signing. The label’s artists will be overseen Mushroom Events entertainment booker Andrew Mackie as director of A&R.
“After seeing Mitch perform live, I knew there was something unique and special about him. The fact that Mitch’s song ‘Coming Back’ was used and embraced by the NFL team The Green Bay Packers was a true testament to his song writing and I was surprised that he wasn’t already signed after that,” Gudinski said.
“The reaction we had after Mitch performed 5 Seconds Of Summer’s track ‘Youngblood’ on The State Of Music was incredible and it made it clear that we had to have him on Reclusive.”
Mackie added: “Due to the honesty in his songwriting and openness in his live performances, Mitch has built an incredibly loyal fanbase. I can’t wait for more people to discover Mitch’s talents and integrity.”
King released his debut album, A Life Under The Sun, in 2014. Over the years since, he has released a handful of singles and EPs.
