INXS up for six TV Week Logie Awards

INXS’ TV mini-series INXS: Never Tear Us Apart is up for six TV Week Logie Awards –the Australian television industry awards which isnow in its 57th year.

The two-part telemovie, which was screened in Australia, New Zealand, US and in Latin America, is up for Most Outstanding Miniseries Or Telemovie, Most Popular New Talent – where its two cast members Samantha Jade and Laura Brent go head-to-head –Most Popular Actor (Luke Arnold), Most Popular Drama Program and Most Outstanding Actor (Luke Arnold).

In Australia, where it screened on Channel Seven, the first part had a total audience of 2.243 million metro viewers and the second had 2.579 million, including regional viewers. In New Zealand when it was screen on TV3 last August, it attracted an average total audience of 220,000 New Zealanders and took greatest hits album,INXS: The Very Bestto #1 on the NZ album charts – the first time INXS has had a #1 album in the territory since 1987.

Locally, the album was certified Quadruple Platinum and wasthe #1 selling artist album in Australia for 2014. When it hit #1 on the ARIA Albums chart last year it marked the first ARIA #1 album for the band in 24 years (since 1990’sX) and saw them make ARIA chart history as the Australian act with the longest gap between #1 albums.

In December INXS: Never Tear Us Apart was nominated for four Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards.

The Logie Awards will be held atCrown Palladium inMelbourne on May 3, and broadcast on the Nine Network.
