UK-based Global Group expands to US with ex-AEG CEO Randy Phillips

Ashley Tabor's UK-based Global Group hasannounced the launch of a USdivision and worldwide content arm, Global Entertainment. Global Entertainment takes its place alongside our London-based Global Television and Global Radio, the UK’s largest commercial radio company.

The announcement was made by Global Founder & Executive President, Ashley Tabor, who has also named experienced entertainment industry executive and impresario Randy Phillips as Chief Executive Officer of Global Entertainment. Phillips will operate from Global Entertainment’s new state-of-the-art Los Angeles headquarters.

The new company is a trailblazer for the 21st century music and entertainment sector, with a fully staffed music content company featuring label, publishing, artist management, promotion, live concerts, events, touring, branding, sponsorships and marketing divisions, all under “one roof” in two transatlantic offices. With a content hub at its core, the diverse yet interrelated areas of expertise are led by experienced executives at the top of their fields.

Speaking about today’s opening, Tabor said, “This is a defining moment for Global as we open our first office in the U.S. and create a new type of content company. Our goal is to redefine the possibilities for a 21st century music and entertainment company and I am thrilled to have Randy and the team on board.”

Randy Phillips comes to Global Entertainment after 13 years as CEO at AEG Live, where he promoted world tours by artists such as Justin Timberlake, Bon Jovi, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Iglesias, Rod Stewart, and Prince. He oversaw the expansion of AEG Live’s Festival Division (Coachella, Stagecoach, New Orleans Jazzfest) and won the NAACP Image Award for producing the prime-time CBS-TV special, “Genius: An Evening For Ray Charles” .Phillips also produced hit movies featuring Michael Jackson, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry, as well as managing Rod Stewart, Toni Braxton, Lionel Richie and Usher.

Phillips said, “I’m excited to be leading Global’s growth into the content creation business in the form of Global Entertainment. We’ve got an outstanding team of executives in both LA and London and some great signings. The vision of creating a real 360 content creation company, that genuinely offers a vast array of services to artists, combined with Global’s financial commitment to its new Entertainment division, is something that attracted me greatly to Global. Everyone talks about doing a 360 company, and we hope to lead the way in this new model of music content generation.”

Phillips has hired an all-star team of expert industry pros, starting with Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer Chuck Ciongoli, formally of Universal music, longtime protégé, Chief Creative Officer David Loeffler, and Business Affairs executive Rand Hoffman. In addition, Executive Vice President and Urban music head Garnett March brings in his own multi-faceted joint venture entertainment company, The Chemists/Global.

Other senior executives are also already in place, and will be announced shortly.

Global / The Chemists are off and running with their first release, 18-year-old Atlanta wunderkind Anthony Lewis, brought to Global by Garnett March. Already one track, Candy Rain,landed on the Urban Mainstream chart at #11, while the official first single, It’s Not My Fault,featuring T.I., is rapidly garnering airplay.
