Jay Walkerden confirmed as GM for Brisbane
NOVA Entertainment has announced the appointment of Jay Walkerden as General Manager of Nova 106.9 in Brisbane.
Louise Higgins, NOVA Entertainment Chief Operating Officer said, “Jay has proven to be an outstanding interim GM for Brisbane during 2014 and I am delighted to officially confirm his appointment to the role. His strong programming leadership over the past six months has seen the station deliver a number one result in survey 8 and secure solid results across the business.
“The station has had a successful history, due largely to its unwavering focus on delivering great content and integrated client solutions, and under Jay’s management Nova 106.9 is in great hands to continue to build on this heritage.”
Higgins has been in the business for over 20 years with both programming and management experience within Australia and internationally. He clocked up 14 years with SCA including APD for Fox FM and 2day FM and PD for Perth’s 92.9. In 2007 he headed o/s to be Global Media’s Group Programme Controller for the South East region and in 2010 he returned to Australia as Group Programming Director for MCM Media.
KIIS 101.1: More members join the team
With the countdown on until KIIS 101.1 launches Jan 19, ARN have announced a further four new key appointments.
Krystal Keller joins Matt Tilley and Jane Hall for Breakfast. Keller will be an integral member of the Matt Tilley and Jane Hall Show – in addition to reading the news she will also be delivering the entertainment news. Keller and Tilley are no strangers, working together on the Matt and Jo show of FOX FM. Keller recently left SCA where she was breakfast news reader with Fifi and Dave.
Returning to ARN after a 2-year hiatus in TV is Alex Day. Day is teaming up with Executive Producer Cushla Travers, as Producer of the Matt Tilley and Jane Hall show.
Day previously worked at ARN as a Breakfast Producer and over the last two years has worked at Channel 7 as Producer on Mornings with Larry & Kylie.
Maria Blampied will be reading news for Hughesy & Kate, keeping listeners informed of the latest national news for their drive home on KIIS 101.1. Working with SCA for the past 4 years reading news, Blampied will be a key member of the drive show team with Hughesy and Kate.
Also joining Hughesy and Kate as Audio Producer is Simon Valentine. Valentine joins KIIS 101.1 from StarFM on the Central Coast where he has been the Station Image Producer for the last four years.
KIIS 101.1 Content Director, Brendon “Whippy” Dangar said: “We have a load of massively talented people joining us at KIIS 101.1 and I can’t wait for Monday 19 January.”
b105 breakfast anchor: Tim Arnold
Tim Arnold (pictured) who was on mornings in 2014 on b105 is joining Stav & Abby on breakfast in 2015.
As well anchoring the show, Arnold will also become the Executive Producer.
The new team starts Jan 19. Arnold replaces Jason “Labby” Hawkins.
3GG sold to Kevin Blyton
Kevin Blyton has purchased Victorian Radio station 3GG from Resonate Broadcasting today.
3GG serves Gippsland and the Latrobe Valley of Victoria, with studios and transmitters in Warragul.
Kevin Blyton said the acquisition is a great addition to his group of companies.
“3GG has a proud history of strongly serving the Gippsland area which will continue under my ownership. The station will continue its long standing ties with local communities throughout Gippsland and be managed and operated by local people.”
Phil Bradley New Hobart Group CD
Phil Bradley is the new Group Content Director for SCA in Hobart, covering 100.9 SEA FM and Heart 107.3.
General Manager of SCA Hobart, Damon Wise said: “We are very excited to have Phil joining our Hobart Team from 15th January. He will be joined by his family shortly after and we look forward to welcoming them all, including his wife Ally Bradley who will take up the role of General Sales Manager – Hobart.”
Bradley replaces Rod Maldon who joined NZME this month.
