MTV Australia partners with Ministry of Sound for new show
MTV Australia has partnered with independent dance label Ministry of Sound to produce a weekly MOS-branded show on MTV Dance, TMN can exclusively reveal.
Ministry of Sound will be hosted by multi-Platinum-selling EDM artist Timmy Trumpet and screened each Saturday, highlighting 20 dance tracks.The show launches at 7:30pm on New Year’s Eve with a one-off countdown, MINISTRY OF SOUND: Clubbers Guide to 2014 Top 20.
On January 10 it will premiere at 7:30pm with the theme MINISTRY OF SOUND: The Annual 2015. While not every showwill have a theme, it will take cues from the label’s compilation series’ with episodes like MINISTRY OF SOUND: Clubbers Guide to Summer and MINISTRY OF SOUND: Sessions 2015 slated for early 2015.
Dance music has been a highlighted priority for MTV Australia this year; recently, the media brand offered its MTV Dance channel toall Foxtel subscribers on the entry package for free.
“WithMTV Dancemoving onto Foxtel’s entry package and now reaching over one million additional homes across Australia, we have a fantastic opportunity to launch new content in partnership with labels like MOS,” Dan Zilber, Programming Manager of MTV Australia & New Zealand, told TMN.
“It’s also such an exciting time for dance music in Australia right now, with locals like Peking Duk, Timmy Trumpet, Flume, Will Sparks and What So Not taking to the world stage, so I’m thrilled that MTV and MOS can showcase the best that the scene has to offer,” Zilber continued.“Our music programming team is working around the clock to create new ways to showcase dance music like thison the channel for 2015,and a weekly series with Timmy Trumpetis a great example of ways we can attract new audiences and continue to entertainexisting ones.”

Since signing to Ministry Of Sound in March 2013,Timmy Trumpet has made a name for himself as one of the world’s busiest DJs, averaging ten flights a week and 200 shows a year. His most recent ARIA hit Freaks, with NZ rapper Savage, his #3 on the official chart, is certified 3x Platinum in Australia and Platinum in New Zealand. The partnership also marks the the first time MOS have teamed with a media brand like MTV.
