On the money: Viagogo predicts ARIA winners

Ticket marketplace Viagogo has predicted a handful of winners for tomorrow night’s ARIA Awards based on ticket sales.

According to ticket and search statistics pulled from the popular online marketplace, Keith Urban will take out Best Australian Live Act. The country music artist has sold eight-times as many tickets than the second most popular nominee Boy & Bear.

Billboard chart toppers 5 Seconds of Summer will take home the ARIAs for Best Group and Breakthrough Artist. The Sydney band are 20 times more popular than the closest Best Group nominee, Brisbane’s latest international export Sheppard, and take a 91% share against other artists in the category. 5SOS also have a 92% share in ticket sales against other nominees for the Breakthrough Artist category.

According to Viagogo, Katy Perry –who is in the country on her Prismatic World Tour and will be presenting an award tomorrow night –will win the ARIA for Best International Artist. Her tour proved 1.8 times more popular than closest rival Beyoncé at this time last year, giving her a 32% share of the ticket sales in the category.

Viagogo predict nine-time ARIA nominee Chet Faker will take home the award for Best Male artist, with a 35% share of ticket sales when compared to fellow nominees Vance Joy (30%), Guy Sebastian (29%), Dan Sultan (4%) and Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu (2%).

Ticket sales statistics haven’t just dictated Viagogo’s predictions however; it predicts Iggy Azalea will take out the award for Best Female Artistbased upon search and the popularity of the festivals she’s performed at.
