Chart Wrap: The Veronicas debut at #1

Hot 100

The top four of the TMN Hot 100 remains the same this week, with Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off still at the top of the chart and leading by a considerable amount of airplay. At #2 is Meghan Trainor’s All About That Bass, G.R.L’s All About That Bass at #3 and Calvin Harris & John Newman’s Blame at #4. Nathaniel’s Live Louder has reached a new peak at #6, moving up from last week’s #11.

Notable movement this can be seen this week from The Script’s Superheroes, moving from #65 to #43. Fences’ Arrows featuring Macklemore & Ryan Lewis has moved up to #28 and Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud has moved to #31 from #89, a total of 58 positions and is this week’s most moved track.

There are some new debuts in the Top 50 as well, with Marlon Roudette’s When The Beat Drops Out at #35, Enrique Iglesias’ Bailando debuts at #42 and Labrinth’s Let It Be enters at #50.

ARIA Singles

Topping the Singles chart this week is The Veronicas and their single You Ruin Me. As well as being the twins’ second ARIA #1, You Ruin Me is the fourth #1 by an Australian act in 2014 and the second #1 for a Brisbane act (Sheppard’s Geronimo hit #1 in April).

In the lead up to this week’s chart it was a tug-of-war with Meghan Trainor’s All About That Bass for the top spot with figures being too close to tell for midweek reports. Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud has jumped from #41 to #12 on the chart after a incredibly strong week of sales and could very well break the Top 10 this Saturday. Beau Ryan’s Where You From? featuring Justice Crew debuts at #19, a reasonably high entry point for the singles chart and Alesso’s Heroes featuring Tove Lo enters at #27.

ARIA Albums

The Albums chart sees an entirely different Top 5 this week, all of which are new entries into the chart. At #1 is Barbra Streisand’s Partners, #2 is alt-j’s This Is All Yours, Missy Higgins’ Oz takes #3, Chris Brown at #4 with X and The Script debut at #5 with No Sound Without Silence. Ed Sheeran’s X has moved up to #6, no doubt as a result of the success his single Thinking Out Loud has had in recent weeks. At #7 is another debut, this time from Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga with Cheek to Cheek meanwhile Tim McGraw’s Sundown In Heaven Town enters the chart at #11.
