Fergus James signs with 100s + 1000s & drops new single
Fergus James has joined the Mushroom Group, signing a label deal with the 100s + 1000s imprint.
James has released his latest new music as part of the signing announcement, finally releasing the follow-up to his 2019 debut EP All Of The Colours.
The triple j favourite has dropped new tune ‘Good Man’, a track written in Los Angeles with US producer Frequency (Eminem/Rihanna, G-Eazy, Bebe Rehxa, Snoop Dogg) and Aussie songwriter Nat Dunn, who’s written with Charli XCX, Marshmello, Rita Ora and Hayden James.
James says the creativity behind the song was born out of exhaustion and a lack of inspiration. “Heading into this writing session I was feeling creatively exhausted and out of ideas, all I had was the opening guitar riff.”
He explains that working with Nat Dunn was a truly awesome experience. She was “so creative and warm,” he says, “we were able to bounce off each other’s shared ideas and experiences to build the sonic story you hear today.”
“Paired with Frequency’s tasteful and world-class production, ‘Good Man’ is a sonic step up from my established sound.”
The track was mixed by Spike Spent, who has worked with Beyonce, Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles.
The release follows a huge 2019 where James played Splendour In The Grass, showcased at BIGSOUND, and embarked on his first solo headline show.
