Sia, 5SOS, Iggy Azalea take home VMAs
The 2014 MTV Video Music Awards wrapped up last night in California and Australia took a nice chunk of the pie with 5 Seconds of Summer beating out Katy Perry and Ariana Grande for Best Lyric Video with Don’t Stop, Iggy Azalea’s track with Ariana Grande (Problem) took out Best Pop Video and Sia taking out the award for Best Choreography for her 3x Platinum single Chandelier.
New Zealand artist Lorde took out Best Rock Video for Royals and presented Taylor Swift’s performance of her just-released single Shake It Off.
Other winners included Katy Perry, who nabbed the Best Female Video VMA for Dark Horse; Drake whose mini-film for Hold On, We’re Going Home won Best Hip-Hop Video, Miley Cyrus who took home the coveted Best Video award for the Terry Richardson-directed Wrecking Ball clip, Ariana Grande, who picked up Best Pop Video for Problem and Beyonce, who was the biggest winner with four Moonmen for Best Collaboration, Best Video With A Social Message, Best Cinematography and the annual Video Vanguard Award.
Beyonce performed a 16-minute medley of songs from her self-titled album, the LP reached #10 on iTunes this morning. Watch Beyonce’s VMAs performance below.
