APRA AMCOS partners with Arts QLD for Grant McLennan Fellowship
APRA AMCOS has partnered with Arts Queensland to sponsor this year’s Grant McLennan Fellowship for the first time.
Nominations for the $25,000 funding opportunity opened today with all Queensland-based individual songwriters and duo acts encouraged to apply.
The program will fund the winner’s relocation to New York, London or Berlin for up to six months to develop and expand their craft.
Past winners include Seja Vogel (2013), Louise O’Reilly and Paul Hannan (2012) and John Busby and Chris Dale (2008). Last year’s winner Seja used the fellowship to explore new creative processes in New York.
Head of Member Services for APRA AMCOS, Dean Ormston, said: “The Grant McLennan Fellowship is a fantastic program to support Queensland songwriters and honours a great Australian singer-songwriter.”
The Grant McLennan Fellowship was established in 2007 following the untimely death of Queensland singer-songwriter/founding member of The Go-Betweens Grant McLennan. McLennan died suddenly of a heart attack in 2006, he was 48-years-old.
Applications for APRA members close Friday 22 August 2014 with winners announced in November. For more application information and guidelines visit www.qmusic.com.au.
