Kobalt Neighbouring Rights signs RHCP, Akon, Lenny Kravitz
London-based Kobalt Neighbouring Rights (KNR) has signed Red Hot Chili Peppers, Akon, Lenny Kravitz and Foxes to its roster.
The news comes just under six months since the global service signed 18 international acts to its roster – including Australia’s own Flume, Kevin Parker (Tame Impala) and Neil Finn – and under a year since its signing of Matt Corby and Havana Brown.
The mass signing also includes Steve Angello (formerly one third of Swedish House Mafia), Sean Paul and Art Garfunkel, who will join his other musical half Paul Simon as a client.
Multi-Grammy award winners Red Hot Chili Peppers have set to work on an 11th album.
Four-time Grammy winner Lenny Kravitz is set to release his 10th studio album Strut on September 23 via Kobalt Label Services.
US R&B/hip-hop artist Akon, who became the first solo artist to hold both the #1 and #2 spots simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2007, has this week released a track with Houston rapper Scarface titled The Exit Plan.
Multi-Platinum selling rapper/producer Sean Paul saw his sixth album Full Frequency debut at #1 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart in February.
Grammy winner Foxes saw her debut LP Glorious hit #5 on the UK and peak inside the ARIA top 40 charts in May.
DJ, record producer and owner of Size Records Steve Angello recently celebrated his first decade with his label imprint with a month of free music and parties in collaboration with Google Play.
Art Garfunkel’s work as Simon & Garfunkel, alongside existing KNR client Paul Simon, saw him awarded with 10 Grammys and a Lifetime Achievement Award. The pair were also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.
Ann Tausis, Managing Director of Kobalt Neighbouring Rights said: “This year has already seen our client list grow rapidly with the addition of many prominent acts, and we’re delighted to be able to count these artists among them. Their international appeal makes them an ideal fit for our services and we look forward to working closely with them to realise their Neighbouring Rights revenues.”
The new signings join KNR’s roster of international artists including Bob Dylan, Björk, Gotye, Carly Simon, Gary Numan and the estate of Michael Jackson.
KNR is a separate limited company operating as part of the Kobalt Music Group.
