MusicNSW strikes partnership with Alberts
MusicNSW has entered a partnership with Alberts to better serve emerging music industry professionals.
The peak body for contemporary music has moved into the Australian independent music publisher’s premises in Neutral Bay, where they will host a 350m2 creative space for those in NSW trading without access to an affordable office space.
The arrangement will allow independent musicians and companies to work across industry and artist development, broaden their network of contacts and eliminate overhead costs related to inner city trading.
Kirsty Brown, Executive Officer at MusicNSW says the partnership originated from a conversation between herself and Alberts’ Creative Services Coordinator Ben Picone last November.
“It lead to the revelation that Ben was looking to fill the top floor at Alberts with a co-share space, and that MusicNSW was currently looking to expand it’s 6 hot-desks to accommodate more emerging music industry professionals. It was serendipity,” Brown told TMN. “Both organisations were committed to finding solutions for the same problem, and both had identified that there was a real need in NSW for a hub that was affordable, that could create more prospects for knowledge and resource-sharing, networking, and to increase professionalisation opportunities for a sector used to working from lounge rooms and cafes in the inner-West!
“Alberts are a key music industry stakeholder and their support for the music industry also translated into an incredible offer for MusicNSW to make a new home in their building, that frees up more of our operating budget to put back into programs and resources for the sector. We are sincerely grateful for the opportunity, and looking forward to further announcing details of the space as they are finalised, and to begin the process of recruiting tenants.”
David Albert, Managing Director of Alberts told TMN the partnership supports small businesses in the local music industry.
“For Alberts, this arrangement continues our tradition of ’keeping music in the building’, complementing the artists, managers, producers and music industry who currently spend time at Alberts every week.”
