Kyle and Jackie O take #1 again in Radio Ratings Survey 2
The second Radio Ratings Survey sees ARN station KISS FM increase its share in the Sydney market, jumping to second place with a 1.3 point increase behind Macquarie Radio Networks’ 2GB which achieved a 0.7 point increase to 14.3%.
With its new hosts Kyle and Jackie O, KIIS have achieved jumps in both the 18-24 and 25-39 demographic. KIIS is now leading FM but sitting behind AM and news with 2GB’s Alan Jones and ABC702’s Robbie Buck leading the overall charge. WSFM, who tied at #1 with KIIS for the last survey has slipped back to a #3 FM ranking for Breakfast, dropping 1.1 points to an 8.2% share, but is ranked #3 overall above Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa, who currently have a stable 7.9% share.
Kyle and Jackie O’s former home of 2DayFM at Southern Cross Austereo has failed to increase its figures from the last Survey with a 4.1% share, however its new Breakfast show hosts Merrick, Jules and Sophie have added 0.3 share points to the 4.1% audience.
Melbourne’s 3AW is now second place in the market with its Afternoon, Drive, Evening and Weekend numbers increasing. 3AW now sits behind ABC774, which has increased its weekly rating by 1.2 points for a market share of 12.1% in Melbourne.
Southern Cross Austereo experienced a fall in ratings in Melbourne, while FOXFM also dropped 1.2 points for a 7.3% share. ARN have come out on top in the city with Gold and Nova 100 sitting above with 8.6% and 7.5% share respectively. Triple M also dropped 0.7 points to record a 6.7% share.
Fairfax took a hard turn with its Sydney station 2UE at record lows on almost every session. 2UE’s sessions were Mornings and Afternoons which dropped almost a a third of their audience with 2.7 and 2.8 points respectively.
Nova Brisbane’s team of Ash, Kip and Luttsy won the Breakfast slot with a 1.2 point jump to 12.3%. Triple M is Brisbane recorded the biggest overall audience drop, with its listener share falling from 10.4 to 8.6%.
Adelaide’s MIX 102.3 is the top station for the city, its increase of 1.8 points to 15.8% mirrors an increase in ratings of its Morning show, which is up 2.5% from 16.1 to 18.6. The city’s Fiveaa has increased listeners for its Drive show, increasing 0.4 points to 12.7%
Perth’s Mix 94.5 has continued its number one placing supremacy for Southern Cross Austereo in the city despite a -0.6 point drop to 14.6% share. ABC720′s Breakfast with Eoin Cameron continues to dominate the breakfast time slot with an increase of 0.1 to 15.6% share.
The survey marks the second results release from new provider GfK since the company’s takeover from Neilsen SoundScan.
