Aussie tech company Jaxsta has released a beta version of its music-credits platform.

Jaxsta’s open beta database contains more than 100 million credits from 19 million recordings.

The Sydney-based startup plans to become the world’s largest knowledge bank for artists, musicians, songwriters, producers, engineers, media within the music community.

The company was founded in 2015 by Jacqui Louez Schoorl and Louis Schoorl to ensure that everyone involved in recorded music receives the attribution that once lived in liner notes.

The platform’s data is sourced from partner agreements brokered over two years, allowing Jaxsta to provide music-credits on over 80% of global music releases.

The company’s mission is to “give credit where credit is due”.

Data partners include Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA), CD Baby, Hillsong, Mad Decent, Mushroom Music Publishing, The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), The Recording Academy, Sony Music Entertainment, The Orchard, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and many more.

The database includes information on:

  •  5 million individual production credits.
  • 4 million profiles
  • 2.5 million album/single/soundtrack releases
  • 1.9 million credited individual songwriters

Artist profiles include comprehensive knowledge about a musician’s catalogue, and a full list of collaborators for each song. It also aggregates recent news and sales certifications.

Jaxsta CEO Jacqui Louez Schoorl explains that the new database was specifically designed to fill a need for comprehensive music-credit information.

“With the launch of our open beta we are proud to unveil what promises to be the world’s largest source of official music credit information, and the platform which gives artists, musicians, songwriters, producers, engineers and all involved with the creation of music ‘credit where credit is due,” she said.

“2019 is a big year for Jaxsta as we are on track to bring another much-needed tool to the music industry with Jaxsta Pro.”
