Love is a ritual for Tiësto, Jonas Blue & Rita Ora [listen]
Tiësto teams up with two of Australia’s airplay juggernauts Jonas Blue and Rita Ora for the summer fuelled anthem ‘Ritual’.
This track serves as Tiësto’s return to the mainstream airwaves after the release of his mammoth single ‘Jackie Chan’ (#32 TMN Hot 100) with Dzeko and featuring Preme & Post Malone which has gained over 500 million streams worldwide and comfortably sat at #1 on the Billboard Dance charts.
Jonas Blue is no stranger to the top of the charts with a selection of Platinum-plated Top 5 radio hits in his discography including ‘Perfect Strangers’, ‘Rise’, ‘Fast Car’ and ‘Mama’ which features Australia’s own William Singe.
With these two heavyweight EDM producers coming together, they’ve been able to create a synth soaked production that has a tropical house beat driving the verses into a euphoric hook. With the classic keys slowing the production down for the chorus, they then drop a big club and radio friendly beat that will have listeners ready to dance. There’s even a nod to the saxophone trend that is riding through pop music with a synth that sounds very similar to the oozing instrument.
Rita Ora has been on the radio and charts a lot recently with an array of collaborations and solo tracks making her one of the most recognisable voices on the airwaves. However, her recent single ‘Carry On’ with Kygo for the POKEMON: Detective Pikachu movie soundtrack was a predictable and lacklustre track that didn’t try at all to be anything different.
Whereas on ‘Ritual’ this song at least heads towards a summer-soaked sound that will perfectly fit in with the incoming US, UK and Europe season. It’s a bit more memorable and grabs hold onto the romantic storyline that gives you a rush of euphoria with the lovestruck concept.
Paying a little nod to Madonna’s ‘Like A Prayer’, they converse about how love is like a prayer and love is something stronger and more powerful than what you realise: “And I’m always singing it like a prayer, oh when you touch me there, oh you’ll always be my ritual”.
This radio friendly EDM track takes a couple of listens to embrace because it does have a lot of similarities to previous EDM-pop crossovers but when you take it for what it is, it become a euphoric little pop moment.
