Musexpo 2018 set to launch in Los Angeles this weekend

MUSEXPO 2018 is set to kick off its 20th global edition this weekend in Los Angeles, with leading executives and innovators across all facets of the industry offering an in-depth analysis of the global music landscape.

It is held at the W Hotel Hollywood between April 29 and May 2, and traditionally draws delegates from Australia and around the world.

MUSEXPO will again kick-off its Los Angeles event with a special focus on the most important aspect of our industry: the songs, the artists that present them, and the executives who guide the entire creative and development process.

Programming, including Sunday’s A&R Expo, will feature global label A&Rs and music publishers, with a kick-off keynote featuring Grammy, Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning songwriter Diane Warren, moderated by Tim Ingham, founder of the UK-based publication Music Business Worldwide.

Monday’s programming begins with The State of The Sonic Union, a state of the biz’s current and future state.

It will be moderated by Music Week editor Mark Sutherland, and features: Alex Luke – global Head of Programming & Content Strategy, Amazon Music; Ben Cooper – Controller, BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra & BBC Asian Network; Craig Kallman – Chairman and CEO, Atlantic Records Group; Mandar Thakur – Chief Operating Officer, Times Music (India); and Scott Burnell – global lead, business development and partner management, Ford Motor Co.

MUSEXPO 2018 also continues to provide attendees insights and opportunities from the global music synchronization arena including film, TV, gaming, advertising and brand partnerships.

This year’s event will offer an interactive panel session giving delegates access to a number of synch opportunities, including opportunities to have music heard directly by leading music supervisors from across the synch landscape.

MUSEXPO delegates will be able to pitch to briefs, sent in advance, for opportunities to have their music heard by leading supervisors and others during the session.

MUSEXPO will also feature key global executives from the live, management, A&R, publishing, digital/streaming, marketing, distribution, social media and special one on one keynote interviews featuring Pete Ganbarg – President A&R, Atlantic Records; Alexandra Patsavas – Founder, Chop Shop Music Supervision; Zach Katz – President, US repertoire and marketing, BMG; as well as over 60 speakers from the US and international music, media and technology sector.

Additionally, MUSEXPO 2018 is honoured to host BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2 as this year’s recipient for its International Music Icon of the Year award.

Part of it includes a rare keynote from BBC Radio Director, Bob Shennan.
