Tim Minchin, Neil Finn headline Gold Coast’s new Home of the Arts program
The former Arts Centre Gold Coast has been renamed Home of the Arts (HOTA), as part of an announcement unveiling its outdoor program.
A comprehensive outdoor program has been announced for the first half of 2018.
Tim Minchin will kick off proceedings on March 17, with his first show in the country in several years.
“I’ve just moved back to Australia after 12 years living overseas, and the first stage I get to play on is a spanking new, world-class amphitheatre on the beautiful Gold Coast!” said Tim Minchin.
“It’s a hugely exciting venue in a part of the country I’ve not been in years. Can’t frickin wait.”
The program also features Neil Finn, and the Crowded House frontman will perform alongside The Spirit of Churaki orchestra in a production directed by Brian Ritchie of the Violent Femmes about an Aboriginal man heralded as the Gold Coast’s first lifesaver.
The Queensland Symphony Orchestra will also perform film music by Grammy and Oscar winner John Williams.
HOTA has also secured the services of musician and director Laurie Anderson, who’ll move to the Gold Coast to put on five shows including a concert for dogs.
