Rebranded Groundwater country festival announces first line-up for 2018

The first artist announcement for 2018 by Groundwater – formerly Broadbeach Country Music Festival – includes international and Australian names.

These include The McClymonts who last month swept the Golden Guitar awards in Tamworth, Bill Chambers, Adam Harvey, O’Shea, Troy Kemp and Casey Barnes.

The US contingent includes Texas born and bred Granger Smith who topped the American charts with 2013’s album Dirt Road Driveway and the 2016 single ‘Backroad Song’; newcomer Lillie Mae; and old skool Joshua Hedley who’s risen to be a major live drawcard.

Organised by the business association Broadbeach Alliance, Groundwater is held July 27-29 across 10 performance stages in the Broadbeach precinct on the Gold Coast.

Broadbeach Alliance CEOJan McCormick says, “In only its sixth year, the newly named Groundwater Country Music Festival has grown exponentially.

“2017 saw over 54,000 people descending on Broadbeach to witness some of the most celebrated Australian and international artists.

“2018 is no exception and with this fabulous line up we know it will be an incredible three days.”

Festival director Mark Duckworth adds, “Our festival has quickly gained a reputation for bringing together a collection of artists that work together to create a genuine festival feel.

“This line-up combines the best of Australian talent from the mainstream to the fringes of our land whilst fusing them with the authentic sounds of Nashville and Texas.”
