New festival The Drop will follow the World Surf Championship around Australia

SAFIA, Dune Rats, Holy Holy, San Cisco and Ruby Fields make up the bill for Australia’s new surf festival The Drop.

The new festival will follow the Aussie leg of the World Surfing Championship Tour, with stops at Tweed Heads, Torquay and Margaret River.

The Drop is set to take place on the first weekend of each surfing event, aimed at bringing together fans of music and surfing as one community.

Canberran electronic trio SAFIA, Brisbane-hailing party rockers Dune Rats, and fellow Brisbane indie rock outfit San Cisco will be joined by Sydney singer-songwriter Ruby Fields and eclectic Aussie rock band Holy Holy.

Organisers say the various legs will highlight the culture, food and beverages that make each region unique – as well as celebrating a shared love of the ocean.

“The Drop Music Festival’s gonna rock Snapper, Bells and Margaret River in 2018,” said The Drop founding partner and former Aussie surfer Wayne ’Rabbit’ Bartholomew.

“I’m super pumped on this!!”

The festival’s partners include World Surf League, Quiksilver, Rip Curl and Roxy.

More announcements are set to come via The Drop’s socials, and full dates/venues are below.

Saturday March 17 – Ebenezer Park, Tweed Heads (All Ages)

Saturday March 31 – Torquay Common, Torquay (All Ages)

Saturday April 14 – Three Oceans Winery, Margaret River (18+)
