Industry personality Aarom Wilson departs WAM

Aarom Wilson has announced his departure from WAM, revealing that yesterday was his last day with the organisation.

Three time Golden WAMi-nominated and Media Award Individual winner Wilson revealed that he is departing WAM due to a restructuring of the position.

“After five plus years of wonderful wear, tear and making people aware in this role, and due to a restructuring of the position (more announced on that next year), a bittersweet note to say that I’ll be finishing up at WAM today,” Wilson said.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure working with so many amazing people – from the staff at WAM to every level of the industry – and I’m so thankful for everyone’s support in making it such a pleasure to champion WA music.

“Though sleep may have suffered over the years, I’m happy to leave feeling truly proud of what we’ve achieved in my time here, with so many records broken, new initiatives launched, (r)evolutions sparked, ground-breaking projects worked on & more… it’s been a fulfilling blast.

Wilson, previously a founding editor at Drum Media Perth and lecturer ar Murdoch University, says he has no immediate plans for the future, but that he needed a change.

“It’s time for a much-needed change though. What that might be, I have no fixed direction – or city, even… But change is necessary.

“Either way, hopefully be speaking to you in some new role in the future – so look forward to continuing our beery banter.”
