‘All Good Things Must Come to an End’: Matt Rogers Signs Off at UNIFIED

After 14 years at UNIFIED Music Group, Matthew Rogers is moving on.
Today, February 28th, the veteran industry lawyer and executive chalks up his final day with the independent music group – a “bittersweet” occasion, founder and CEO Jaddan Comerford explains in a message to staff.
With Rogers on board, the early team was able to “create what would become the foundations of UNIFIED Music Group,” writes Comerford. “But all good things must come to an end, and today marks the conclusion of our working relationship in its current form.”
Rogers joined UNIFIED Music Group in 2011 as general manager, and later, in 2017, rose to chief operating officer, his most recent title.
The Queenslander has been instrumental “in shaping our company’s expansion and strategic direction. His leadership has been central to our evolution into a globally recognised independent music company, driving diversification across artist management, recorded music, publishing, merchandise, and direct-to-fan e-commerce,” adds Comerford.
Also, the outgoing exec has supported the global careers of artists including Violent Soho, The Amity Affliction, and Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, while helping to launch key initiatives such as 24Hundred, UNIFY Gathering, UNIFIED Artist Management, STL Tones, and Community Music.
Prior to joining the business, Rogers was a lawyer at David Vodicka’s Media Arts Lawyers.
Rogers broke the news of his departure with a message to colleagues. “I have spent countless days, nights, flights, ocean recoveries and holidays colluding and planning so many business moves with my close friend Jaddan Comerford and am so very grateful for everything this adventure has provided,” he recounts.
“We built businesses in Australia and around the world and we conquered new frontiers as a little Aussie indie.” Those new frontiers included the creation of an affiliate in the United States.
Along the way, he continues, “I was able to achieve many incredible highs, watch our artists fulfil their dreams, and develop many truly special friendships.”
Though he hasn’t announced his next venture, Rogers he hints that he’ll remain in music. “So while today isn’t goodbye forever, it is goodbye from Matt at UNIFIED, and I look forward to working with each of you in the future.”
Rogers has also served on the board of the Worldwide Independent Network (WIN), AIR and PPCA.
