Spotify Names Fazerdaze, Young Franco as Next RADAR Artists (EXCLUSIVE)
Fazerdaze and Young Franco are receiving the RADAR treatment.
Spotify taps Fazerdaze, the New Zealand singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, and Franco, the Brisbane-based producer, as the next two participants for its RADAR program for emerging artists.
For “Lucky Girl” artist Fazerdaze, RADAR selection coincides with the long-awaited release of Soft Power, her second album.
The Kiwi artist boasts over 232,000 followers on the streamer, and features in the forthcoming December edition of Rolling Stone AU/NZ.
Her signature song, 2017’s “Lucky Girl,” has captured more than 20 million streams on Spotify and more than 23 million views on YouTube.
“Feeling honoured to be named a Spotify AUNZ RADAR artist,” comments Fazerdaze (real name: Amelia Murray). “With so much incredible music out there, having this kind of support from Spotify means a lot. Thanks for backing the journey, Spotify!”
Meanwhile, Franco has gathered 75,000-plus followers on Spotify, and has accumulated upwards of 28 million streams globally in the last 12 months.
“Stoked to be on the lineup for RADAR,” he comments. “A bunch of friends and people I love have been on it including Royel Otis, Genesis and Vv Pete which is sick. Plus, I’ve never been on a billboard.”
With RADAR approval, Fazerdaze and Franco can expect to feature in the RADAR playlist, and enjoy promotional support for upcoming releases, on-platform marketing, bespoke content and social media promotion.
“We’re excited to welcome two phenomenal artists to RADAR, spotlighting exceptional homegrown talent from Australia and New Zealand,” comments Leah Harris, Spotify’s artist & label partnership lead.
Young Franco and Fazerdaze “have captured global attention with a series of sold-out shows and incredible music releases in recent years. We can’t wait to support their continued rise and new releases through Spotify’s RADAR program.”
AUNZ RADAR launched in 2020, and has welcomed such homegrown talents to the program as Royel Otis, grentperez, Youngn Lipz, Genesis Owusu, Baker Boy, merci mercy, and CHAII.
Over time, Spotify has backed over 750 RADAR-affiliated emerging artists in more than 180 markets through editorial and marketing at a tipping point in their career.
