Applications Are Open for 2025 Seed Management Workshop

The Seed Fund Management Workshop is back.

After five years sidelined by the pandemic, the workshop is set to return in mid-2025.

From today, applications are open for the next Seed Management Workshop, to be held in regional New South Wales with a mission “to uphold its mission of fostering collaboration, mentorship, and creative growth.”

Created by artists for artists, the Seed’s Management Workshop is the brainchild of John Butler and Danielle Caruana (Mama Kin), launching back in 2006 as a platform for the music community to share resources and impart wisdom to managers and self-managed artists as they navigate the industry.

Helmed by managing director Stacia Goninon, the project has worked with the likes of Alex Lahey and Andrew Stone, the 2023 AAM Manager of the Year. In 2012, The Seed received DGR status.

“In a time where artist managers and self-managed artists are predominantly working in silos, facing a barrage of long-standing and new challenges, opportunities to intentionally come together and form personal and professional connections is incredibly valuable,” says Goninon.

The workshop “serves as an informal training opportunity to address the cultural and creative sectors skills shortages. The artist is the centre of the industry and managers (including self-managed artists) are pivotal in its success.”

To date, the workshop has welcomed 298 managers and self-managed artists to the program, while the Seed Fund overall has distributed over $1.2 million through grants and initiatives.

All told, the project has delivered 12 workshops across its 15 years. Program funding is from Create NSW.

“I love that we are able to deliver a program that is responsive to what emerging managers, self-managed artists and artists are facing in their current realities,” comments Caruana in a statement.

“We focus on facilitating connections that will follow our participants back into their working lives and through the long arcs of their careers.”
