AIR moves annual AIR Awards after Board decision
TheAustralian Independent RecordLabels Association (AIR) has announced a major change for its annual Awards.
Following a decision made by its Board, AIR has extended the eligibility dates for the Awards to align them with the calendar year.
The previous eligibility period was between August 1 the previous year and July 31 the current year on the Awards, preceding the ceremony in October.
Now, 100% independent singles and albums released between August 1, 2015, and December 31, 2016, are eligible for the first AIR Awards under the calendar year system in 2017.
Due to the change, the AIR Awards, which were previously staged each year in October, have been moved to 2017.
AIR has also streamlined the voting process as part of a new partnership with Awards Force, the global awards management system behind the Golden Guitars in Tamworth.
The new, online nominations platform allows AIR members to enter details of their membership and the release entry (details here).
The nominations for the 2017 AIR Awards are open to AIR’s Associate, Full and Distributor members until January 31, 2017.
AIR is expected to announce key details on the 2017 Awards in the new year, including the finalists, its sponsors and the ceremony date and venue.
