Former ARN star Robin Bailey to join Brisbane’s Triple M
Just a few weeks back Robin Bailey told her listeners, “I will be back on radio, it’s who I am, it’s what I do and it is what I love – I can promise you that, Brisbane.”
And today TMN can confirm Bailey is coming good on her promise.
The much-loved radio personality has been snapped up by Brisbane’s Triple M, next year joining Greg Martin and Ed Kavalee for breakfast.
Talking to TMN this morning, Bailey said: “It all happened so quickly; I was offered a role at Triple M last week and signed a contract yesterday.”
Thisannouncement follows the highly-publicised and abrupt sacking of Bailey from ARN-owned 97.3, which wasfirst reportedby TMN last month.
ARN said at the time, “While we worked hard to keep Robin as part of the team, we’re disappointed that we were unable to agree terms. All at ARN and the team at 97.3 wish her the very best.”
Two days laterARN announcedthat Bianca Dye is to exit her drive show on SCA’s Gold FM on the Gold Coast this month, joining co-host Terry Hansen and anchor, Bob Gallagher on 97.3 nextJanuary.
But it appears Bailey’s loyal following and newfound availability was too attractive an opportunity for competing radio network’s to pass up, with sources telling TMN that the radio star received “multiple offers”.
SCA’s Brisbane GM Damon Rielly said he “jumped at the opportunity to have her join Triple M’s breakfast show in 2017”.
And according to Bailey, the feeling was mutual.
“When Triple M offered me a role, I jumped at the chance,” Bailey said of her speedy return to the airwaves.
“To join Marto & Ed for breakfast is a dream come true. It means I will be able to continue to do what I love most, broadcasting to the people of Brisbane. I’m really looking forward to this great new challenge.
On the change of music Bailey said, “I love rock music, I’ve been a sneaky listener of Triple M for years. Bring on more Cold Chisel I say!”
Baileywas previously part ofthe #1 breakfast show onBrisbane’s 97.3 and previously, spent a decade with the hugely successful B105 Morning Crew.
SCA hopes Baileycan close the 2.4% ratings gap on her previous employer, bringing a new listenership to Triple M with her “deep understanding of news and current affairs”, according to an official statement released to media this morning.
A regular guest on Channel 9’s Weekend Today, Bailey is managed by former SCA and ARN executive Brad March, who alsomanages KIIS 1065’s Jackie O and incoming triple j breakfast duo, Ben and Liam.
