Beyond The Valley Cracks DJ Mag’s Top 100 Festivals
Untitled Group’s Beyond The Valley lands on DJ Mag’s list of Top 100 Festivals for 2024 – the only Australian event to make the cut.
BTV lands at No. 92 on a tally that’s predictably dominated by EDM festivals.
Staged over the New Year, BTV has bucked the downturn that’s sweeping across Australia’s festivals landscape, and is arguably the jewel in Untitled’s crown.
Grammy Award-winning stadium fillers Rüfüs Du Sol headlined the most recent edition, while superstar DJ and producer Dom Dolla popped up once again, this time for a surprise set.
According to organisers, the latest fest shifted 35,000 tickets for a best-ever result, helping the independent live events specialist to a “record-breaking” season for 2023/24, which wrapped with 500,000 tickets sold.
BTV was one of 250 events and festivals produced by Untitled over those hottest months, a feat that was lauded by Variety at the inaugural Live Business Breakfast earlier this month, where the live entertainment specialist won the live business award.
Speaking on a special panel exploring music festivals, Untitled Group co-founder Michael Christidis explained that those brands that develop an affinity with its audience, and know who that core audience is, will reap the rewards.
“Selling tickets to a festival is difficult,” he told industry guests. “However, if you have a core audience that you’re aligned with, and you’re putting up a strong product, I think people will find the money for that. That’s what we’re seeing across headline touring. It doesn’t matter how low the bank account is, if Taylor Swift is in town you (buy a ticket).”
Mega-festival Tomorrowland, Belgian won DJ Mag’s countdown, which has been fan-voted since 2022 and this year reportedly received a record number of votes.
