EMC reveals final speaker lineup and conference program

PRESS RELEASE:

EMC today share the final round of speaker additions for the Electronic Music Conference 2016, held from Monday November 28 – Friday December 2 at Sydney’s prestigious Ivy Complex – alongside the final 16 artists to join EMCPlay, curated by Dave Ruby Howe. Adding to an already outstanding international lineup of speakers including Mirik Milan (Amsterdam’s Night Mayor),Martin Phillips(Bionic League),Nic HP (Majestic Casual), Jimmy Edgar, Patrick Donovan(Music Victoria) andRaj Chaudhuri(Boiler Room) are some of Australia’s brightest music professionals, making up a program of over 150 speakers.

Electronic Music Conference welcomes Alison Wonderland, one of Australia’s biggest dance exports as a keynote speaker. Her standout live shows, innovative production and capacity to sell out warehouse size venues in less than 24 hours, prove how far her loyal fan base continues to grow. Having an ARIA-nominated album under her belt, and many miles from US national tours, the now-LA based artist will return to her hometown for a conversation at EMC with inthemix Editor Katie Cunningham.

EMC’s second keynote will come from previously announced Night Mayor of Amsterdam, Mirik Milan as guided by member for City of Sydney, Jess Scully. A curator, producer and creative powerhouse, Scully has led major Sydney events including Vivid Ideas and TEDxSydney. Milan will appear at EMC for the second time on a panel moderated by The Guardian’s culture editor, Steph Harmon with Music Victoria’s Patrick Donovan, Keep Sydney Open’s Tyson Koh, and entrepreneur Matt Barrie of the viral essay Would The Last Person in Sydney Please Turn The Lights Out.

Other speakers to contribute their wealth of knowledge across various fields from management to touring and music publishing are Garth Crane of Falcona, Sam Wald of WME, Sophie Kirov of Down The Highway, Dan Palm of Sony/ATV Music Publishing, Julian Hewitt of Media Arts Lawyers, Simon Cahill of Warner, Duncan Collins of Ministry of Sound, Marcus Thaine of Spotify, Aniela Swiatek of October Records and Thomas Heymann of Pandora.

Roddy Campbell of BRING, and Tim Freeland of Our Friends Electric, will bring their expertise in building memorable experiences for brands and music, while Jordan Smith, editor of Pulse Radio, Dani Marsland, publicist for Pilerats, Neil Ackland, CEO of Junkee Media, Mike Kerry of Danger Mouse productions, Glen Cassidy of Cake Wines, Bobby Virgona of Vibe Positive, Hugh Nichols of City of Sydney, Damian Cunningham of Live Music Office, Aaron Castle of Myth Music, Brisbane artist Sampology and S.A.S.H residents Gabby, Kerry Wallace, Matt Weir, and Jake Hough each bring their unique area of skill to the panel.

Moderators for EMC 2016 will be Michael Delaney, Emily Copeland, Vi Hermans of Motorik, Simon Caldwell of Mad Racket, Stephen Goodhew of FBi Radio, Adam Lewis, Steph Harmon of The Guardian and Tim Duggan of Junkee Media.

In more exciting news, EMC today reveals the final 16 artists to join the EMCPlay lineup. Curated by Dave Ruby Howe, EMCPlay sees 26 artists perform across five venues on Wednesday November 30th, as a one-of-a-kind party, showcasing the best of the best in rising electronic artists from all around Australia. They’ll join another 40+ artists across these five venues in Sydney on the night of Wednesday November 30. Full lineup and schedule of performances will be released 15 November.

Joining the likes of Paces, Kuren and Lower Spectrum, are Melbourne’s Aeora, Sweat It Out signee Dena Amy, Sri Lankan and Sydney based ELSZ and bass heavy Fvturistic. Also performing will be Brisbane chiller Golden Vessel, Canberra’s Goldielocks, Melbourne heavy-hitter Herzeloyde, producer and label owner Hey Sam, Sydney’s James Crooks, SINIQ, Swindail, Perth solo producer Tobacco Rat and Brisbane’s Varcity. Byron house hero Nutrition, and Roche Musique signee Oshan will also appear alongside Sydney producer and artist Tashka.

Joining the EMCPlay artists will be numerous showcases and parties curated by a selection of incredible local crews & labels, all to be revealed next week.
