Sennheiser Group Partners With MPEG

The best ears in the business are connecting with the top-end of audio technology.

Today (March 23), the Music Producer & Engineers’ Guild of Australia (MPEG), the national industry body for music producers and sound engineers, announces its foundational partnership with Sennheiser Group.

Through the new relationship, both parties will “work to empower the local music community,” reads a statement, with Sennheiser providing “financial compensation and key resources to support the work of all members and the industry at large.”

Also, “several key initiatives” are on the horizon, which would boost an Australian music scene crippled by the pandemic.

Financial terms weren’t disclosed.

The alliance is a boon for MPEG, which launched in September 2022 with a remit to represent the commercial interests and community development of Australia’s community of music producers and sound engineers, through advocacy and engagement.

MPEG is founded by producer/engineer Anna Laverty, alongside foundation directors Cath Haridy and Tom Larkin, and boasts such foundational members as Mark Opitz, Nick Launay, Eric J Dubowsky, Nina Las Vegas, Uncle Kevin Starkey, Virginia Read and Aroha Harawira.

“Sennheiser and Neumann with their combined 90+ year heritage in audio are revered in the industry,” comments Laverty, MPEG Guild Director.

“The products and technologies that these brands deliver are indispensable for our members and enable them to reach the highest level of their craft in producing top tier sound recordings.”

Adds Chris Smith, Sennheiser’s Pro Audio sales director for ANZ: “Supporting the Guild allows Sennheiser to equip those responsible for making the sounds we love with the best possible tools to enhance their creative process. We couldn’t be happier to join the Music Producer and Engineers’ Guild and look forward to a long friendship.”

MPEG was shaped by the health crisis and the often-forgotten needs of producers and engineers, with the objective to “nurture and support up-and-coming talent, build upon the work of established and mid-career members, and advocate for the interests of the music production sector within the music industry at large,” read a statement at launch.

Sennheiser was founded in 1945, and is recognised as a leader in the field of professional audio technology. It’s managed in the third generation by Dr. Andreas Sennheiser and Daniel Sennheiser.
