Maria Amato appointed General Manager of AIR
The largelymale-dominatedindependent label sector will officially be managed by respected arts industry figure, Maria Amato.
Amato, who has 10 years experience at AIR in various capacities, had been interim General Manager and CFO for the Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR) since mid-June.
AIR’s move to see Amato take the baton from Dan Nevin – who relocated to the UK – was announced lateyesterday afternoon.
Chairman David Vodicka said: “We are thrilled that Maria has accepted our offer to take on the role of General Manager, her experience and foresight is greatly valued by the board and we look forward to the next chapter as we enter our 21styear.”
Amato said in a statement: “I am incredibly excited to be taking on this role and hope to make a valuable contribution to AIR’s success.”
Amato brings to the role 25 years experience in the not-for-profit, music and entertainment sectors specialising in finance and business management. She has previously held the role of CEO/CFO of the Melbourne International Film Festival (from 2010-2014) and was a Board member of Music Victoria (from 2012-2014).
In addition to her role as GM at AIR, Amato will continue as AIR CFO and also assist the AIR board with strategic planning, the annual Awards and their commercial and sponsorship relations.
She will also remain the director of accounting and management consultancycompany Results Management, where for 22 years she has helped improve productivity for her clients in the arts, entertainment, retail and service sectors.
