Exclusive: Weet-Bix enlists Aus artists to re-make the iconic jingle
Country music stars Troy Cassar-Daley and Amber Lawrence, along with pop singer/Neighbours actor Jai Waetford are among the artists set to collaboratively re-make one of Australia’s most famous and enduring jingles, Aussie kids are Weet-Bix kids.
Cereal giant Sanitarium is calling on its fans to help rewrite and perform the now 30-year-old iconic anthem and has enlisted some household music names for the update.
Joining the aforementioned artists who will help inspire creative genius from Weet-Bix kids across the country are singer/songwriter Fletcher Pilon, opera singer Greta Bradman, singer/songwriter Andrew Lambrou, singing duo Jess and Matt, the Sydney Youth Orchestra and the Sydney Children’s Choir, some of which will also make cameos in the revised TVC to launch later this year.
While the chorus (‘Aussie kids are Weet-Bix kids’) must remain as is, entrants get to re-write the introduction and middle verse to accompany the original tune.
The best versions will be shortlisted for airtime in a new TV commercial with an overall winner scoring $10,000, a Sanitarium prize pack and a half-day studio recording session. Two runners up will receive $3,000 (2nd prize) and $2,000 (3rd place) plus a Sanitarium prize pack each.
Alex Garas, Senior Brand Manager – Weet-Bix at Sanitarium Health & Wellbeing said: “The Aussie Kids anthem is the heart and soul of Weet-Bix. We are thrilled to have these talented Australian musicians and aspiring songwriters help us create a new version for the next generation of Weet-Bix kids.”
Entries are open now to Australian residents aged 13 years or over and run through to August 5, 2016.
