Guy Sebastian, Dami Im, Urthboy, Julia Stone & more set to write hits in regional Victoria

Some of Australia’s top songwriters and producers will be looking to create global hits this week atSongHubs, an APRA AMCOS initiative that brings together local and international music creators to collaborate.

Held in Victoria for the first time, the five-day writing camp has been curated by award-winning songwriter and producer Jon Hume and will take place at The Stables recording studio on the edge of the Macedon Ranges.

Hume will be joined by international guest writers Mr Hudson (Kanye West, Jay Z, Duran Duran, Nile Rodgers) and Trey Campbell (BeBe Rexha, Florrie, Dua Lipa); guest producer Dann Hume and 15Australian creators: Guy Sebastian, Dami Im, Tim Levinson (Urthboy), Julia Stone, Melisa Bester(E^ST), Celia Pavey (Vera Blue), Lakyn Heperi (Lakyn), Nicole Millar, Monte Morgan and Harvey Miller (Client Liaison), Jan Skubiszewski, Pip Norman, Jess Chalker,Lindsay Jackson and Lionel Towers (Gypsy & the Cat).

Launched in 2013, SongHubs has already helped to establish on-going creative partnerships between Australian and international songwriters, producers and performers, and resulted in commercial releases for the likes of Troye Sivan, The Aston Shuffle and Reece Mastin.

Over You, the lead single from Canberra trio SAFIA’s forthcoming debut album, was written at a SongHubs camp in London last year.

“Australian writers can match it with the best in the world, and we want to open more doors for them,” said Milly Petriella, APRA AMCOS Director of Member Relations.

“SongHubs was established to create career pathways for Australian songwriters. The networks they’re developing through these camps are mind blowing, and provide access to new international markets and unique collaborative opportunities.”

To date, SongHubs writing camps have taken place in Canada, Greece,India, Indonesia,New Zealand, Sweden,USA andUKand over 300 new works have been created.

SongHubs is an APRA AMCOS initiative supported by the Federal Government. The Victorian camp has been co-funded by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria.
