UNDR Ctrl’s 2nd Birthday to raise funds for OXJAM

On Saturday 30th July Sydney based create music agency UNDR Ctrl celebrates two years of artists, events, tours and late night emails with a full venue takeover at our home-from-home, Oxford Art Factory – presented by OXJAM, Purple Sneakers and FBi Click.
This past year has seen UNDR Ctrl establish The Island LIVE as one of Sydney’s premier summer music events with guests including Boys Noize, TEED and Motez. In conjunction with UK dance bible Mixmag it launched (and manage on-going) the fortnightly live broadcast series The Lab SYD featuring DJ sets from the likes of Busy P & Boston Bun, Late Nite Tuff Guy and Cut Snake. Ithosted its own UNDR Ctrl radio show for a month on FBi Click. Itsmusic industry charity 5-a-side football tournament Musica Copa expanded to 20 teams and raised $16,500 for charity.
It produced national headline tours for domestic artists Bag Raiders, Set Mo, Total Giovanni, World Champion, Just A Gent, Adi Toohey, Shantan Wantan Ichiban, Jensen Interceptor, World’s End Press, Light Year and Lancelot, whilst organising tours for itsinternational artist roster San Holo and LCAW, plus a special Boysnoize Records tour with Spank Rock.
BRO CASE returned to Big Sound to showcase the best new Australian electronic talent for a second year, itpartnered with Purple Sneakers to celebrate their 10th Birthday and Boys Noize tore the roof off OAF.
Further afield it hosted stages at Mountain Sounds Festival, Secret Garden and The Greenwood – the latter supporting Nina Kraviz and Hot Since 82… so all in all, it’s been a rather productive year.
Oxford Art Factory was the scene of last year’s unforgettable sold out 1st Birthday; an allwhite-stage-invading-night, showcasing the agency’s gleaming talent roster and raising significant funds for Oxfam’s #gigsforgood charity OXJAM. The 2nd Birthday represents fresh eyes and ears on the current crop of UNDR Ctrl artists collectively progressing the domestic electronic music scene and proudly finds its place as the Official Sydney Launch event for OXJAM 2016.
Melbourne messiah Roland Tings takes centre stage with a DJ Set a week after he headlines the Tiny Dancer stage at Splendour in the Grass. Expect to hear his totally primo new single, which is about to drop as part of his next acclaimed EP. Rainbow Chan is another artist about to push out some fresh heat. Her debut album ‘Spacings’ is released in August and latest single ‘Work’ precedes it this month.
Having just wooed Vivid crowds for Heaps Gay, Gallery of NSW and the MCA, Rainbow is performing her new live show! Continuing the ‘live’ theme is Third Floor; one of the newest members of the UNDR Ctrl fam. It willpresent Third Floor’s world exclusive live debut, bringing his stunning debut audio-visual EP ‘Dream State’ to life on stage for the very first time. Prepare the senses, this is gonna be something extra special.
The Gallery room at OAF will again flourish into alil’ rave cave for the night, headed up by veterans of the scene Motorik Vibe Council, who are about to celebrate their own 5th Birthday, and Purple Sneakers DJs who hosted their “ten years of taste” Birthday in June. Itstastemaking-radio-presenting duo of Adi Toohey and Luen continue the DJ firepower alongside pysch hunks World Champion (in DJ mode) and a feel-good 90’s “Rhythm of the Night” set from Ariane.
Look out for B2B sets from FBi Radio dream team Kato and Bad Ezzy plus the girl power of Annie Bass and Ellie Sass. The creative minds of EGO and Purely Mental return to present more tripped out visuals across both rooms, and by popular demand, it’sbringing back last year’s dress code… yep, “It’ll be ALL WHITE on the night (again).
