Kate Ceberano awarded Order of Australia

Kate Ceberano joins an exceptional group of recipients in the 2016 Queen’s Birthday Honours List, becoming a member of the Order Of Australia.

Kate has been recognised for significant service to the performing arts, particularly music, as a singer, songwriter and entertainer, and to charitable organisations.

Kate said today, “I am so very proud and honoured to be receiving this award from this great Country of Australia that I love”.

Kate recently celebrated 35 years in the Australian music industry with the release of the stunning ANTHOLOGY album, which debuted in the national ARIA Albums Chart at #9. It is Kate’s twenty-fourth album, a three CD / 53 track package taking an in-depth look at her musical career from her first album in 1986, ‘Bear Witness’ right through to 2013’s ‘Kensal Road’.

Featuring hits, rarities, live tracks, special projects, and duets with some of the biggest names in the business – John Farnham, Ronan Keating, Paul Kelly, Wendy Matthews, David Campbell – ‘Anthology’ also features a selection of previously unreleased songs including Kate’s cover of The Carpenter’s ‘We’ve Only Just Begun’ which featured in Australian movie The Castle, and two songs written and performed with Paul Kelly.

Kate Ceberano is one of Australia’s most celebrated recording artists. She has five Platinum and five Gold albums to her name, along with record sales in excess of 1.5 million units in Australia alone. In 2014 she was the first woman inducted into the Australian Songwriters Hall Of Fame. Kate was Artistic Director for the Adelaide Cabaret Festival for three years, and won series 6 of Dancing With The Stars in 2007. She has multiple ARIA Awards for Best Female Artist and is a proud Ambassador for National Breast Cancer foundation.
