Sony/ATV signs Madonna co-songwriter Sean Douglas

Sony/ATV Music Publishing has signed a worldwide publishing deal with multi-platinum songwriter Sean Douglas who has worked with acts including Jason Derulo, Nick Jonas, Chris Brown, David Guetta and Madonna.

Among the many hits the Los Angeles writer has penned are “Talk Dirty” and “Wiggle” for Jason Derulo, “Hey Mama” for David Guetta, “Levels” for Nick Jonas and the Thomas Rhett country smash “Die A Happy Man”, which in April was named Single Record of the Year at the ACM Awards.

Sean Douglas is among the most successful and versatile songwriters and producers in contemporary music, having scored hits in a number of genres, including pop, dance, R&B, hip hop and country.

He has worked extensively with Jason Derulo, including co-writing his 2013 single “Talk Dirty”, which reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the U.S. where it sold more than 4 million digital downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and topped the charts in a number of other countries, including the U.K., Germany and Australia. He scored another transatlantic Top 10 hit with Derulo with the song “Wiggle”.

He is the co-writer of Demi Lovato’s U.S. Top 10 single “Heart Attack”, which was certified for 2 million download sales by the RIAA and became her biggest hit in the U.K. where it reached No. 3. Douglas also made the Top 10 in both the U.S. and U.K. with David Guetta’s multi-million-selling “Hey Mama”, which featured Nicki Minaj, Bebe Rexha and Afrojack on vocals.

Meanwhile, his song “Die A Happy Man” co-written with and recorded by Thomas Rhett is one of the longest-running No. 1 hits of all-time on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. It spent its 17th consecutive week at No. 1 on the chart in March this year, became a crossover Top 40 pop hit and sold more than 1 million downloads in the U.S. It was crowned Single Record of the Year at the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards held in Las Vegas in April.

Douglas collaborated with Madonna on her 2015 album Rebel Heart, while among the many other acts he has written for or with are 5 Seconds of Summer, Chris Brown, Hilary Duff, Fifth Harmony, Jessie J, Nick Jonas and Olly Murs.
