Finalists announced and voting opens for BOQ People’s Choice Awards

Eighteen early-career entrants in the 2016 Queensland Music Awards have today been revealed as nominees in a new set of BOQ People’s Choice Awards.

These emerging artists are now in the running for cash prizes worth $4000, courtesy of Bank of Queensland.

Shortlisted by a panel of artists, producers, label reps, booking agents, managers, publicists, radio personalities and music critics from Australia and abroad, the power is now in the hands of public opinion to decide Queensland’s ‘most promising songwriters’ across three new categories; Most Promising Male, Most Promising Female and Most Promising Songwriting Team.

“Music is one of the things that makes Queensland a great place to live and we’re proud to be supporting our young and emerging musicians. These BOQ Most Promising Awards give our future stars the start they need.” said Greg Pink, Head of Business Banking, BOQ.

Voting is now open via the Queensland Music Awards website (queenslandmusicawards.com.au) where punters can hear each track before making their selection, and all voters will go into the draw to win a double pass to the Queensland Music Awards ceremony.

These early career songwriters have been making music for a public audience for less than 3 years, and have not had high rotation radio play or a song/album in the ARIA Top 100.

QMusic’s Executive Officer Joel Edmondson said, “The Queensland Music Awards has a long history of unearthing previously unknown artists that go on to do great things. Many of the nominees in this year’s Most Promising Categories are finalists in the genre categories, which proves they’re already punching above their weight.”

The poll will remain open until midnight March 7. www.qldmusicawards.com.au/boqpca
