Nashville star announced to appear at CMC Rocks

PRESS RELEASE:

With imminent throat surgery forcing Tyler Farr to withdraw from the upcoming CMC Rocks QLD 2016 festival, organisers have announced that singer/songwriter and actor Sam Palladio aka Gunnar Scott from Foxtel’s ‘Nashville’ will join the lineup.

Despite his impeccable Southern accent on the hit TV show, Sam Palladio was born and raised in Cornwall in the UK. Studying theatre and music at Rose Bruford Drama College, he found success on British stage and TV as a young man, before landing his biggest role to date: The sweet and soulful singer/songwriter Gunnar Scott in the music industry drama ‘Nashville’. Gunnar’s on-again off-again romance with fellow musician Scarlett O’Connor (played by our own Clare Bowen) has been one of the most beloved aspects of the show, and led to many memorable music moments from Palladio, an accomplished and charismatic singer and guitarist.

Since ‘Nashville’s premiere, Sam has performed on the legendary Grand Ole Opry and toured with some of his fellow cast members across the USA in the ‘Nashville Live in Concert’ tour and toured the UK with legendary Canadian singer/songwriter Ron Sexsmith.

“We were sad to lose Tyler Farr and wish him all the best with his surgery,” says promoter Rob Potts. “But we couldn’t be more thrilled to have Sam joining the lineup. We’re all huge fans of ‘Nashville’ and he’s an awesome singer and songwriter in his own right.”

“As promoters of CMC Rocks festival, we have been passionate supporters of country music for almost 10 years and are excited that a show like Nashville has brought country music to the mainstream. It’s a huge thrill to have Sam “Gunnar” Palladio joining this year’s already impressive lineup,” said promoter Matthew Lazarus-Hall, CEO Chugg Entertainment.

Sam Palladio and his band will perform at 7.05pm on Friday night on the Second Stage, 6.15pm on Saturday on the Main Stage and in the Sunday Songwriters Show at 1pm in the Jack Daniels White Rabbit Saloon and Garden Bar.

With the festival just days from selling out, CMC Rocks QLD 2016 has smashed all previous sales and attendance records for the event. All camping, single and two-day tickets have been snapped up and only a handful of three-day festival tickets remain.

Now in its ninth year of operation, CMC Rocks has established itself as the biggest country and roots music event in the southern hemisphere. Artist lineups have included some of the all time superstars of the country genre, including Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Lady Antebellum, Toby Keith, Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts, Faith Hill, Gary Allan and many more.

CMC Rocks QLD 2016 will be held on Fri March 11 – Sun March 13, over three days and nights, at Willowbank near Ipswich. Located within a one hour drive from Brisbane and Gold Coast domestic and international airports, the site allows for fantastic camping and glamping and a variety of travel options for festival goers as well as added accommodation options within a multitude of price categories to suit all budgets.

Foxtel’s 6th Annual CMC Music Awards, the only viewer voted country music awards in the southern hemisphere, will be held Thursday March 10 at QPAC Brisbane and broadcast LIVE on Foxtel’s CMC at 8.30pm AEST.
