Sydney’s Planet sign to Mac Demarco’s booking agency [Exclusive]
When you’ve got BIGSOUND Programmer Maggie Collins and Esti Zilber, Associate Producer at Sounds Australia in your corner, you know you’re doing something right.
Sydney gaze-pop outfit Planet were an industry favourite at Brisbane’s BIGSOUND conference in September. Now, off the back of that appearance, the band has inked a deal with prestigious London-based booking agency ATC Live, sharing a roster with the likes of Mac Demarco, Julia Jacklin’s Phantastic Ferniture, Snail Mail, and DZ Deathrays to name a few.
Maggie Collins, who also manages Planet’s new stable mates DZ Deathrays, said of the signing:
“A band making an international deal, means a job well done for us at BIGSOUND. It gives us the biggest warm and fuzzies. We’re so happy for Planet who had already been working hard and kicking goals. It’s great to see this as another step towards a successful future.”
Esti Zilber added:
“The work SOUNDS AUSTRALIA does on ground at BIGSOUND is designed to see showcasing acts connect with relevant inbound international delegates and foster the foundation for future global business. We are thrilled to have played a part in Planet securing outcomes such as this ATC signing and are looking forward to seeing it play out on the world stage.”
The news comes on the eve of the band’s set at Australian Music Week tomorrow night in Cronulla, and before the Planet’s final tour dates with DIET. in Melbourne and Sydney.
Planet are currently in the studio recording their debut album, due for release in 2019.
