Apple’s Mac Game Of The Year is Australian and soundtracked by a Triple J host
Today Apple announced their Global Pick for Mac Game of the Year.
The Gardens Betweena game developed in Melbourne by The Voxel Agents took out the highly coveted award.
Apple has released a statement explaining why they chose The Gardens Between as their game of the year, detailing “The Gardens Between is Mac Game of the Year for good reason: It’s the rare puzzle game that finds a way to be deeply moving. Don’t be surprised if it inspires you to catch up with an old friend.”

Half of the magic of the game is in the music. The Gardens Between was soundtracked by triple j and Double J host and musician Tim Shiel. Who has created a whimsical, surreal and gorgeous soundscape.

It was conceived in collaboration with an impressive roster of musicians including Luke Howard on piano, Wally de Backer (Gotye) on Ondioline, Liam McGorry of Dorsal Fins and Saskwatch on trumpet. With vocal contributions from Lonelyspeck, Researcher, KAIAR, Eric J Dubowsky (producer for Flume and Chet Faker) and more.

Australian games Sweat and Procreate Pocket also received a nod for for the best Apple TV app of 2018, and the best iPhone app.
