Audible team up with The Brag Media to re-launch DBNews

Australian Gen Z and Millennial publisher The Brag Media has inked a partnership with Amazon’s audiobook service Audible for its music news show.

Hosted on The Brag Media’s Gen Z publication Don’t Bore Us (aimed at school leavers and University students), the three-month partnership sees Audible support the music industry and inspire reading in youths.

As part of the deal, Don’t Bore Us rebranded its music news show last week to feature three sections: It covers the latest relevant headlines for its audience, the section ‘DBNew Obsession’ where the team puts a spotlight on an emerging artist to watch, and ‘Top Tweets’, which gives airtime to Don’t Bore Us‘ own Twitter followers.

This week’s DBNew Obsession was Byron Bay artist Yorke, AKA Grace Hughes, a recent signing of Island Records Australia. Yorke had her debut single ‘First Light’ featured on five Spotify playlists late last year, including New Music Friday. It also premiered on triple j’s Good Nights.

Audible has been expanding its offering recently, signalling an increased appetite for the Amazon-owned property. In addition to its selection of audiobooks including bestsellers, motivation, mysteries, thrillers, and memoirs, it has moved to include more original content.

As reported by TechCrunch, Audible has made a huge play for original comedy projects, in collaboration with Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video. The first production is Heads Will Roll, a program created, produced by and starring Kate McKinnon and Emily Lynne.

Next up will be 63rd Man: senior SNL writer Bryan Tucker and Zack Phillips are working with WWE Superstar John Cena who will star as Billy Foster, a college football star who wants to play professionally.
