OpenLIVE MasterBuilder wins innovation award
PRESS RELEASE:
OpenLIVE’s MasterBuilder, a key component of the industry-changing live audio recording infrastructure developed by OpenLIVE, has won ‘Innovation of the Year’ at the prestigious 2016 Sound+Image Awards.
Launched in 1989 and held annually, the Sound+Image Awards recognise excellence in the design, manufacture and installation of audio and home entertainment equipment and is highly recognised as the industry-leading award show within Australia.
“We’re hugely honoured to accept this award” says OpenLIVE Co-Founder Richard Powell, who along with Simon Tait, brought MasterBuilder and the supporting cloud infrastructure to life. “The ultimate outcome for what MasterBuilder delivers brilliant Hi-Res recordings that will sound amazing through Hi-Res audio devices such as Yamaha’s MusicCast system that won multiple awards on the night.”
MasterBuilder, the recording hardware that sits within OpenLIVE’s cloud infrastructure to deliver Hi-Res live recordings to Music Fans, has been in development for over 12 months and began rolling into local music venues earlier this year. With ongoing tweaks to improve the sonic output while also providing more intuitive methods for Artists to finalise and release their recordings, more Music Fans will have unique Hi-Res live recordings to get the best out of their home audio systems.
MasterBuilder combines with OpenLIVE’s proprietary software that allows Artists to schedule their own recordings in venues where MasterBuilder hardware is installed. Potentially within minutes of their gig being complete, the Artist has a fully mixed, mastered and optimised recording of their performance ready for review and release onto the OpenLIVE download store in Hi-Res audio (48kHz/24-bit) in as quick as an hour after the completion of the gig.
Sitting among many other prestigious products in the home entertainment category, this award is further recognition of the great potential OpenLIVE’s MasterBuilder has to bring brilliant new live recordings to fans, while giving Artists a totally new avenue to get new music out to their fans.
OpenLIVE also boasts a Hi-Res download store where the live recordings captured by MasterBuilder will be available for download, along with over 2.5m tracks from major and minor labels.
