Mac DeMarco signs Australian artist Tex Crick to new label

Mac DeMarco’s love affair with Australia is burning bright with the signing of Tex Crick to his new label.

Hailing from Coledale NSW, Crick has already collaborated with the likes of Iggy Pop, Weyes Blood, Kirin J. Callinan and Connan Mockasin.

The singer-songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist made the move to New York City a few years ago, and is the first artist on the books for Mac’s Record Label, beside Mac himself.

When Crick and Mockasin hooked up with Mac in NYC, they were dressed for success. “We were in Greenpoint and Connan and I had just bought these faux silk pajamas for a few dollars that looked like business suits,” recounts Crick.

“We were wearing them out for a walk when Mac and Keira pulled up in a car and rolled down the window. Mac invited us to his birthday party the following night and ended up joining us on stage at our NYC show.”

According to reps, Crick’s debut album Live In…New York City (say it like Living…New York City) was co-mixed by Mac and will drop March 26 via Mac’s Record Label / Caroline Australia.

Monika Mogi shot the music video for the super-chilled lead single ‘Sometimes I Forget,’ which can be seen below.

Mac DeMarco, born Vernor Winfield MacBriare Smith IV, in Edmonton, Canada, continues to evolve and push the boundaries of his independent-minded music career.

Late last year, he showed off his acting chops when he starred in the music video for Crowded House’s comeback track, ‘Whatever You Want.’
