TEG acquires Handsome Tours
TEG has acquired Handsome Tours, the Sydney-based boutique promoter and events company founded by the team behind Inertia Group of Companies.
Announced today (10th February), TEG snaps up a majority stake in Handsome, which boasts over 20 years’ experience in the live business.
Handsome produced Gang Of Youths’ Say Yes To Life 2018 tour and 2020’s Down To Earth – A Bushfire and Climate Fundraiser at Sidney Myer Music Bowl, which featured Gang Of Youths, Tash Sultana, Angus & Julia Stone and Thelma Plum and raised more than $1.4 million for good causes.
TEG CEO Geoff Jones welcomes Handsome to his company’s growing family, which includes Ticketek, TEG Live, Qudos Bank Arena, Eventopia, TEG Dainty, and Van Egmond Group.
It’s a good fit, Jones comments. “Time and time again, Handsome Tours have showcased their ability to discover new talent and nurture it from the tiniest of clubs to sold out theatres and arenas,” he enthuses.
“The team’s passionate work ethic and artist-first philosophy is the perfect complement to TEG’s integrated model, built on client-first technology solutions and customer-first ticketing services,” Jones adds.
Handsome Tours’ Mark Dodds and Colin Daniels will remain partners in the venture, with Dodds continuing as Managing Director and Daniels assuming the post of Executive Director in conjunction with his duties as Managing Director of Inertia Music/[PIAS] Australia.
“We couldn’t be more excited to be partnering with TEG to write the next chapter for Handsome Tours,” said Dodds in a statement.
Meanwhile, Handsome’s founding partners Ashley Sellers, Mathew Everett and Justin Cosby will depart. They’re to be replaced as board members by Jones and TEG CFO Sandra Rouse.
While the pandemic pressed pause on touring and travel, TEG has been actively building its business through acquisitions and recruitment.
Former Virgin Australia executive Cameron Stone recently joined the company as Chief Technology Officer, following a restructuring of its leadership team.
In the past year, TEG struck a strategic alliance with Empire Touring to co-promote tours and events across the country, and brought Melbourne-based Van Egmond Group into the fold.
